Former Blytheville police officer Tyrone L. Futrell announced his candidacy for Constable of the Chickasawba Township.

Futrell has served as a senior patrolmen of the Blytheville Police Department for five years and has worked for the Blytheville School District for six years. Futrell started his career in law enforcement in 1985 in Hayti Heights, Mo. He was a graduate of Missouri Law Enforcement Class of 1985 at St. Charles Police Academy. After that he was hired by the City of Caruthersville for five years. In 1999, Futrell moved to Blytheville and was hired. Futrell is the owner of Futrell’s Painting Carpentry and Design and has been for 40 plus years in Jonesboro. Futrell is a 1972 graduate of Jonesboro High School. He has also attended Arkansas Northeastern College and ITT Technical College of Cordova.

Futrell graduated in May of 2009, when he received his Associates in Applied Science in Criminal Justice. In March of 2010, he received his second associates degree in Cordova.

Futrell received his bachelors degree in Criminology in March of 2011.

Futrell is a 30 year military veteran of the Arkansas Army National Guard, United States Army and the United States Army reserves. He served in the training of Operation Desert Storm in 1990 through 1991. Futrell achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class before his retirement from the military. Futrell is a lifetime member of NAACP. He is also a Mason, thirty second of N.R. Parker Consistency of West Memphis and a member of Shriner Sphinx Temple No. 25 of West Helena.

A native of Jonesboro, he is a father of two children, a daughter and a son. He is a grandfather to five girls. Futrell is a lifetime member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Jonesboro. Since making Blytheville his place of residence, he fellowships with New Mt. Olive M.B. Church of Blytheville. Futrell stated he is grateful to be a candidate for constable and “with the support of the citizens of Mississippi County have placed their trust in me for this position and they can alway count on me to get the job done.”
