Gosnell Lady Pirate senior track star Z’Kiah Kuykendall was crowned the 4A state champion in long jump Tuesday. Kuykendall also finished with two runner-up finishes in the 100m dash and 200m dash. Kuykendall said, “All I ever wanted in my high school careers of playing four sports was to know what it felt like to win a state championship. I always knew I had a chance in track. So I started earlier than usual getting prepared. It feels amazing to finally win what I've worked hard for the past four years. I still cannot believe it at times. I want to thank my family who has been there encouraging me through it all. Most importantly, I want to give glory to God for giving me the peace, strength, and endurance to do what I love to do and rewarding me for it.” Kuykendall will next compete at the Meet of Champions on May 12 at Lake Hamilton.
