Armorel Tigers beat Bay

ARMOREL — The Armorel Tigers (6-10) defeated 1A-3 Conference rival the Bay Yellowjackets in a 10-1 decision on Thursday.

The Tigers added four runs in the sixth inning to help defeat the Yellowjackets, after being tied 1-1 after the first, got three runs in the third and one run in both the fourth and fifth inning.

Leading the Tigers offense was Brock Elliott (1-2 with a run scored), Brett Alan Harris ( 2-3 with three runs scored), Travis Southern (3-4 with a run scored and an RBI), Brayden Hohn (two runs scored), Wesley Walls ( 1-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs), Blaine McCormick ( 2-4 with three RBIs and a run scored) and Bryce Nester (RBI).

Harris picked up the win by pitching six and two-thirds innings. He allowed one run on four hits. He struck out 13 Yellowjacket batters and walked three of them.

The Tigers hosted the 4A-3 Brookland Bearcats Friday and the results weren't available at press time. The Tigers will have a doubleheader against the Marked Tree Indians Tuesday at Marked Tree.

Chicks swept by Valley View

The Blytheville Chickasaws were defeated in both games, Thursday, by 5A-East Conference foe the Valley View Blazers.

VVHS won the first game 10-0 and 20-1 in the nightcap.

Leading the Chickasaws offense in the first game was Chris Pugh (1-2) and Austin Fink (1-2).

The Chickasaws offense in the second game was led by Mac Connell (2-2) and Darren Henderson (1-2 with a run scored).

BHS hosted the Osceola Seminoles Friday and the results weren't available at press time. The Chicks will travel to Marion Tuesday for a blended conference matchup.
