Vena Brewer
Vena Brewer, 68, of Lake City, died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at her home. Born in Monette, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and MaryAnn Elizabeth Huffman Carmichael and had attended Monette High School.The widow of Jr. Brewer, she had lived most of her life in the Monette and Manila areas. She had been a Lake City resident for the past nine years and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, O.C. Carmichael, Roy Carmichael, Lloyd Carmichael and Bill Carmichael.
Survivors include one son, James Platz (Niki) of Lake City; two daughters, Eva Towles (Scott) of Manila and
Kimberly Rakestraw (Ron) of Lake City; seven grandchildren, Logan Towles, Seth Towles, Devon Brady, Kolbi Platz, Payton Smith, Brody Walls and Hunter Holt; one great-granddaughter, Lydia Walls; two brothers, Raymond Carmichael (Darlene) of Jonesboro and Buck Carmichael (Pat) of Jonesboro; three sisters, Betty Brewer of Mountain View, Thelma Adams (Robert) of Manila and Mary Frances Carmichael (Gary, Sr.) of Manila. She also leaves her special friend, Ricky Dieu.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Ty Koons officiating. Burial will follow in Monette Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday from 11 a.m. until service.
Serving as active pallbearers are Seth Towles, Devon Brady, Kolbi Platz, Brody Walls, Dustin Davis and Terry Eldridge. Honorary pallbearers include P.J. Ford, Tom Despain, Nick Moreno, Collin Eaton and her many nephews whom she loved so dearly.
