Lynyrd Allen Brooks

Lynyrd Allen Brooks, 37, of Pocahontas, former Leachville and Manila area resident, passed from this life Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 in Coleman, Texas. Born in Osceola he was raised in the Leachville and Manila areas and was a 1999 graduate of Manila High School where he was a standout basketball player. He had worked as a riverboat co-pilot and most recently in the maintenance department for Peco Foods in Pocahontas. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed duck hunting and fishing. Lynyrd was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Paragould.

Survivors include his wife, Gabrielle Grist of Pocahontas; his mother, Tammy Cole of Pocahontas; his father, Larry Brooks of Manila; one son, Conner Grist of Pocahontas; three daughters, Madilynn Curtis of Pocahontas, Makennah LaRay Brooks of Pocahontas and Destiny Alexis McMinn of Manila; one brother, Jay Allen Brooks of Manila.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Jason Sutfin officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Gardens in Pocahontas.

The family will receive visitors Thursday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
