MARKED TREE — The Armorel Tigers (15-13, 7-1) were unable to beat the only undefeated team left in the state, the Marked Tree Indians (22-0,9-0), Thursday as they were defeated 56-35.
The Indians jumped out to a 25-9 lead at the half.
AHS senior guard Matt Wyatt led the way for the Tigers with 10 points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds. Wyatt's classmate Brett Alan Harris chipped in six points, eight rebounds, and a steal. Monroe Carr added six points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal.
The Junior Tigers were defeated, 53-19, by the Junior Indians. Bailey Miller led the Junior Tigers with six points, one assist, one rebound and a block. Drew Culp chipped in four points, and Michael Ring added three points for the Junior Tigers.
The Lady Tigers (12-12) defeated the Lady Indians 38-27 Thursday in a 1A/2A blended conference matchup. AHS led 18-13 at the half.
Lady Tiger junior forward Ayrielle Appleton paced the Lady Tigers with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Briley Miller and Sierra Elliott added seven points apiece. Abby Kennedy chipped in four points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.
The Junior Lady Tigers fell to 14-11 on the season after losing to the Junior Lady Indians 26-21.
Tya Sellers led the Junior Lady Tigers with seven points and 12 rebounds. Mayson Carr chipped in five points and Allison Carter added four points.
The Tigers, Lady Tigers traveled to play 1A conference opponent the Maynard Tigers Friday and scores were unavailable at press time.
