Buffalo Island Central traveled to Bay Tuesday night and came away with a 60-54 victory over the Yellowjackets. The Mustangs clung to a slim 13-12 edge after the first quarter before increasing their advantage to 30-26 at intermission. BIC pulled ahead 45-38 after three quarters and held off the Yellowjackets in the final frame.
Canon Walling scored a game high 17 points, including a 9-10 performance from the foul stripe to lead the Mustangs. Chayse Carmichael scored 14 while Andrew McFarlin tallied 13 and Logan Harrison chipped in 11. Jesse Fry tallied four while Jon Garrett Edwards added one point.
Bay also put four players in double figures, led by Slade Grove’s 14 points. Dax Gibson and Aaron Jolly tallied 12 points apiece while Josh Willard pitched in 10.
In junior high action, Bay stung BIC 41-18. Gunner Darby and Paiton Hartley led the Yellowjackets with 15 and 11 points respectively. Grady Peel top the Mustangs with eight, Matthew McMinn tallied five, Eli Couch had three while Brayden Carmichael had two points.
BIC will return to action Tuesday night with a road trip to Lepanto where the Mustangs will battle conference foe East Poinsett County. BIC will play host to Kipp Blytheville Friday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette and will finish the week participating in the Pangburn Classic on Saturday.
