Louis (Lou) Joseph DiMattia
Mr. Louis (Lou) Joseph DiMattia, 71, of Blytheville passed away at home. He was born in Taylor, Pennsylvania on March 12, 1946 to Luciano and Irene Cianni DiMattia. Although born in Pennsylvania, he made Arkansas his home many years ago.
After graduating High School in Old Forge, Pennsylvania, he served four years in the United States Air force. He then spent 30+ years working for Foremost and then Dean’s in the dairy industry. After retiring from being a “milk man” he spent 15+ years working for Maverick/Tenaris in Blytheville. He was a proud member of the NRA and of New Liberty Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years.
In 1967 he married the love of his life, Baba Stewart DiMattia, and loved taking care of her. He loved being married and being a family man. He was an avid gun collector and like to hunt. He enjoyed eating, especially Italian! He also enjoyed gospel and country music…and playing his steel guitar!
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years whom he treasured, Baba DiMattia; and a son, Mark Howard.
He is survived by two daughters, Fairy Howard Ellis (and Len) of Blytheville and Lisa Howard Wicker (and Terry) of Jonesboro;
Seven grandchildren, Marcus Howard (and Kayla) of Blytheville, Matt Howard of Blytheville, Grant Griffin of Dumas, Todd Griffin (and Kerry) of Tichnor, Ark., Blair Griffin (and Jon) of Jonesboro, Jessie Guest (and Matt) of Paragould and Josie Wicker of Jonesboro;
Seven great-grandchildren;
One brother, Joseph Louis DiMattia of Pennsylvania;
And a special friend and hunting buddy, Jack York.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 17 at Carney Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Carney officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service begins. Burial will be at Dogwood cemetery. Condolences may be offered at carneyfuneralhome.com.
