An African American female resident of Blytheville was found injured, naked and walking through strangers’ yards by a passerby, while at the same time her car was found wrecked in a fenced in field 75 yards off-road near Nucor Yamato. She also insists that she was chased all night but did not know why.

According to a Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department Incident Report, at approximately 7:20 a.m. Monday morning, Sgt. Larry Whitehead was dispatched to N. County Road 919 (behind Nucor Yamato) in reference to a wrecked vehicle that was found in a field. When Whitehead arrived he found a white Mercury Gran Marquis in a field about 75 yards north of the road beside a wooded area.

The report states, “it appeared the car was traveling north on N. CR. 919 and went straight in the curve on the Southside of the tracks behind Nucor Yamato. The car was unoccupied and had drove the two sections of the cattle fence leaving it open for the cattle to get out.”

Dispatch contacted Daddy Rabbits for a wrecker and Whitehead made contact with the nearest home to find out who owned the field “due to it being locked on the levee leaving no access to the car.” Whitehead was informed of the owner’s identity, but was unable to make contact with the owner.

The license plate on the car came back in the name of Serena and Dorthy Crawford from Blytheville and with valid insurance.

The wrecker driver and deputy were forced to remove a hinge on one side of the gate and while the wrecker was being driven back to get the vehicle, the deputy blocked the entrance to prevent cattle from escaping.

Also according to the report, while waiting on the wrecker to remove the car, a gray Toyota pickup pulled up on the scene and the driver told Whitehead that he had a black female in his vehicle that he found walking naked through his neighbor’s yard. He also said she was badly hurt.

The victim said that she had been chased all night, but that she did not know why. The woman also admitted that the car belonged to her, but that she had not been driving it.

“I asked who was driving. She stated a young male she did not know who he was or where he was. She was in severe pain. I asked where she was as this time. She said Blytheville,” the report said. “She began cursing and stating she needed to leave. I informed her that medics were en route. I noticed lacerations on both arms and legs that appeared to be a few days old. I asked where she hurt. She stated all over.”

The victim continued to speak in a confused state, saying that someone was in the adjacent bushes “to get her.” The deputy did not find anyone in the area on foot or in a vehicle matching her description. She was transported to Great River Medical Center by Pafford EMS.

The report also said that the owner of the fence and cattle arrived and was informed of the gate and the fence. He promised to fix the fence to keep the cattle from getting out and the gate hinges were put back on by the tow truck driver with no damage to the fence.
