Leachville City Clerk Ruth Ann Keith and street supervisor Robert Ballard expressed their appreciation to Southworth for helping put the finishing touches on the newly renovated basketball courts at the city park.

Southworth made and donated four heavy duty basketball goals to place on the two courts recently refinished.

Work on the basketball courts was funded through a matching $15,000 grant from the Arkansas Rural Community Grant Services through Arkansas Economic Development Commission. Keith wrote the grant for the city and is pleased to have the work done for the community.

The concrete work, two 80x100' courts, was done by Billy Yarbro. Four benches were added at the sight. With the goals donated, the work came in on budget.

Leachville city workers set the goals once the concrete set. Workers sod around the courts.

John Harguess, Southworth plant manager, was on hand to see the finished work.

“We are glad to do it for the community,” Harguess said.

Keith said Trevor Matheny has plans to paint the lines on the courts in the near future.

The city is working on additional grants for a second pavilion and playground equipment to add to the park.

Both Keith and Ballard thanked Mr. Harguess and Southworth for the goals which will be enjoyed by young people for many years to come.
