A motorcyclist faces several charges after leading police on a chase that saw speeds reach more than 100 miles per hour and several near crashes, according to a Blytheville police report.
Saturday night, Gregorey Young was arrested on charges of fleeing, driving on suspended license third offense, careless and prohibitive driving, speeding, no proof of insurance and a failure to appear warrant out of Manila.
Blytheville police reportedly clocked Young at 77 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone on South Division.
The report said when Young saw the officer, he turned north onto the service road and accelerated quickly.
Once he got onto Interstate 55, the sport bike exceeded 100 miles per hour, then exited at the 67 mile marker at 90 miles per hour.
Young then traveled north on the service road and got back on I-55 to continue driving north at the 67 mile marker.
The pursuit continued across the state line into Missouri.
“During the pursuit in Missouri a malfunction occurred with the sport bike and it began fishtailing, with parts coming off the motorcycle,” the report said. “The driver slowed down and regained control traveling on the shoulder. The pursuit then continued north to the 11mm before the sport bike began slowing rapidly. It appeared the motorcycle had ran out of gas. The driver then drove the motorcycle into the ditch at a slow rate of speed before laying the motorcycle on its side. The driver then began running on foot through a bean field. The driver was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.”
Young reportedly told police he was fleeing because of the warrant out of Manila.
He said he was in the process of purchasing the motorcycle.
Young was turned over to Pemiscot County authorities.
