Will Edward Woody
Mr. Will Edward Woody, 73, of Steele passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, in Steele, Missouri. He was born to the late Joe and Verna Woody on Jan. 3, 1944, in Manila. He was one of 13 children raised in the Huffman, Mo. area. He was united in marriage to Rita Hillhouse on June 30, 1992, in Paris, Tenn. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Gosnell. He retired after 25 years from Associated Natural Gas Company. He retired on a Friday and opened his real passion, Woody’s Electric, on a Monday, full time, where he worked until the time of his illness. His favorite pastimes were spending time at his place on Kentucky Lake fishing and telling his big tales and stories. One of his many trademarks was that he never met a stranger.
Mr. Woody was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Verna Woody; three sisters, Shirley Leggett, Verna Arnell Woody and Juanita Woody; and four brothers, Bobby, Charles, Harold and Elmer Woody.
Survivors of Mr. Woody include his wife, Rita Woody of the home; three children, Vicky Woody of Blytheville, Dale Woody and Christy of Manila, and Lori Adkisson and Heath of Blytheville.; grandchildren, Leigha Woody and Lauren Woody of Manila, Landon Woody and Hanna of Jonesboro and John Alan Adkisson and Reese Adkisson of Blytheville; one great-grandson, Blake Woody of Jonesboro; three sisters, Tricia Allen and Chuck of Lino Lakes, Minn., Cathy Wilson of Dexter, Mo. and Nita Blanchetti and Ken of Westmont, Ill.; two brothers, Clarence Woody of Proctor, Ark., and James Woody and Ellen of Morehouse, Mo., and a large host of family and friends that loved him dearly.
Funeral services for Mr. Woody were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 at Bethany Baptist Church in Gosnell, with Bro. Gary Hyde and Bro. Bobby King officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, Missouri. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 24. Pallbearers were Perry Perkins, Matt Rickmon, Pete Rickmon, John Rickmon, Kenneth Leggett, Doug Leggett, David Leggett, Michael Woody and Bryan Woody.
Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
