The Flying Wallendas will return to Blytheville for three performances on May 12-13, according to Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce board president Randy Lemmons.
The Wallendas will perform for local third and fourth graders on Friday, May 12 at no charge.
Then, that night, the high-wire act will have a private performance for those who purchase a limited number of $20 tickets to the Chamber’s VIP tent.
On Saturday, May 13, during Mayfest, the Wallendas will perform another free show.
The times of the shows has not been set at this time.
The Chamber of Commerce is bringing the high-wire act back to Blytheville, and the title sponsor is Farmers Bank and Trust.
The Wallendas perform various daring acts on a 5/8-inch steel cable that is 30 feet off the ground, according to Lemmons, who works with circus acts in the summer.
There will be additional acts this year, including one of Wallenda’s stars, Aurelia, who began walking the high wire at age 3.
Another new performer will be Tosca Zoppe, an equestrian ballerina who had roles in the films P.T. Barnum (1999), Am I Don Quixote? (2014) and Totally Circus (2000).
Last May, the Wallendas performed four times here, including a special show for local elementary students, a private show for a Chamber event and two shows at Mayfest.
