Blytheville police are searching for a man who knocked down an elderly woman and snatched her purse Sunday morning at Walmart.
According to Capt. Scott Adams, around 7 a.m. Sunday the 87-year-old victim told police that a white male
"knocked her to the ground and took her purse."
A witness said the man then entered his vehicle with possible Texas tags and fled the area before officers arrived.
"The victim was injured and was transported to the hospital for treatment to her hip," Adams said. "Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to contact detectives or the Blytheville Police Department at 870-763-4411."
Adams added: "Detectives have learned the same suspect had also robbed an elderly woman at the Walmart in Forrest City on April 1st at approximately 5p.m. She was loading groceries into her vehicle when he approached her armed with a butcher’s knife. The suspect then got into the same looking type car and fled the parking lot. This robbery was approximately 14 hours before the one here in Blytheville... Detectives also learned the suspect has continued north on I 55. We are now working with multiple jurisdictions in an attempt to locate and identify the offender."
