Buffalo Island Central opened the 2017 baseball season Tuesday, March 14, with a doubleheader sweep. The Mustangs crushed Marked Tree 12-2 in the opener behind the complete game eight-strikeout performance of Bryce Towery. BIC claimed the nightcap behind the pitching of sophomore Gavin Gathright, pounding Marmduke 17-2.

BIC played host to East Poinsett County Thursday, March 16, and handed the visiting Warriors a 10-1 shellacking. Junior right hander Andrew McFarlin fired a complete game six-hitter, striking out 12 Warriors to gain the win. McFarlin helped himself at the plate, belting a three-run double while scoring three times. Canon Walling singled, doubled, had an RBI, and scored twice while Towery laced a pair of singles, drove in a run and crossed the plate once. Dax Hurst and Kaleb Dublin both had RBI singles and scored two runs apiece. Cory Turner delivered an RBI single while Chayse Carmichael blasted a base clearing double.

BIC returns to the diamond Tuesday afternoon with a home game against Cross County. The Mustangs travel to Bay on Thursday to face the Yellowjackets.
