Riverside swept a doubleheader Thursday afternoon at Lake City, drubbing Rivercrest 14-3 in the opener before coming back to take a 6-1 victory over Brookland in the nightcap...

Riverside swept a doubleheader Thursday afternoon at Lake City, drubbing Rivercrest 14-3 in the opener before coming back to take a 6-1 victory over Brookland in the nightcap.

Riverside (6-2-1 overall, 3-0 league) scored in every frame in their five-inning victory over the Colts. The Rebels plated two runs in both the first and second innings before breaking the game wide open with a seven run third. Riverside added three more runs in the fourth to invoke the run rule.

Charley McClure went the distance to earn the victory. The southpaw struck out four while allowing only four hits. Offensively, the Rebels had five players with multiple hit and RBI games. Izzy Garcia went 3-3 with two runs batted in. Larry Tilley also had three hits and two RBI. Leadoff hitter Preston Nichols went 2-3 and had three runs batted in while Dillon Turner and Gavin Stone both laced two hits apiece and had two RBIs each.

After giving up an unearned run in the top of the first inning, Stone shut down Brookland the rest of the way in Riverside's victory over the Bearcats. The Rebel righty fanned 12 batters while allowing just two hits.

Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the first, Riverside answered with a pair of runs of their own to take a 2-1 lead. The Rebels scored single runs in the second and fifth innings before adding two more in the sixth to put the game away.

Riverside banged out 11 hits on the day, led by Tilley who singled and slammed a two-run homer. Nichols and Garcia both had two hits and an RBI each while McClure went 2-2 at the plate.

Brandon Glenn suffered the loss for the Bearcats, who fell to 9-2 on the year.

Riverside shutout Osceola in both ends of a doubleheader Thursday, March 16th at Lake City. The Rebels whitewashed the Seminoles 16-0 in the opener before completing the sweep with a 10-0 victory in the nightcap.

Tilley banged out three hits and drove in three runs to lead the Rebels in the opener. Nichols added a pair of hits and also drove in a run. Turner (2-0) picked up the win, striking out six Seminoles.

In the nightcap, NIchols earned the victory and struck out five Seminoles along the way. Turner rapped two hits and drove in a run to pace the Riverside offense.

Riverside lost 3-0 March 14 to Nettleton. The two teams battled to a scoreless tie through the first six frames before the Raiders broke through, scoring three unearned runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead.

Christian Arnold led off the Nettleton seventh reaching base on an error. Seth Robinson followed with a single. Both runners advanced into scoring position on Cameron Ramsey's sacrifice bunt. Jamison Bridger cracked a two-run single to break the tie and put the Raiders on top. C.J. Cleary added a run-scoring double to put the Raiders ahead, 3-0.

Three Nettleton pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout. Ramsey picked up the win, throwing the last two innings, allowing no hits. Cody Wilkins pitched 2 2/3 innings of two-hit shutout ball, followed by Arnold, who pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit.

Gavin Stone went five innings for the Rebels, allowing just one hit while striking out five. Tilley absorbed the loss, giving up three unearned runs along with two hits.

Riverside dropped an 8-3 decision to Armorel March 17th at Lake City. Brett Harris picked up the win for the Tigers, allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings of action. Charlie McClure was the losing pitcher for the Rebels, allowing four unearned runs in 4 1/3 innings of work.

Riverside jumped on top 1-0 after the first inning before the Tigers took a 3-1 lead, thanks to a three run second. Armorel tacked on a run in the fourth before adding four more in the sixth. Riverside scored two in the bottom of the sixth to cap off the scoring on the day.

Jared Wyatt had a pair of hits for the Tigers while Andrew Lannon blasted a two-run homer. Stone, Tilley and Braden Overman all had two hits apiece for the Rebels.
