It took overtime, but Manila's Lady Lions slipped past Gosnell 61-59 in senior girls basketball action Tuesday night at Lion Gym. Manila held a slim 26-25 edge at the half and took a 39-38 lead into the fourth quarter. The two teams were all square, 49-49, at the end of regulation.

Sydney Adcock led the Lady Lions with 16 points while Hannah Teague scored 15 and Hannah McQueen tallied 12. Presley Pierce and Madison Bibbs contributed eight points apiece while Tessa Pannells dropped in two points.

Lakiya Turner scored a game high 28 points to lead the Lady Pirates while Zkiah Kuykendall chipped in 16.

The Lady Lions closed out the regular season with a 51-37 loss to Westside Friday night. Sydney Ford topped the Lady Warriors with 14 points while Shelby Leonard and Faith Whitmire added 10 points apiece.

Teague and Jordan Tyler led Manila with 12 points each.

The Lady Lions will begin senior high district tournament action as the third seed from the East. Manila will take on Corning, a two seed from the West, Tuesday night at 7:00 in Osceola.

Junior Lady Lions end season

In the junior high district tournament, Hoxie raced past Manila 48-26, ending the Lady Lions' season.

Brailey Hampton led Manila with 15 points. Anna Grace Adams scored four while Grace Wilkins, Sadie Massey and Anna Beth Baugher all added two points each. Vivian Pryor pitched in one point for the Lady Lions, who finished 13-9 on the season.

"I was really proud of how hard the girls worked and competed this year. They were really a fun bunch to coach," said Junior Lady Lion Coach Carey Cossey.
