Blytheville police have made an arrest in the slaying of 38-year-old Bennie Holliman.
According to Blytheville Criminal Investigations Division Commander Capt. Scott Adams, around 12 p.m. Monday, the juvenile offender surrendered to detectives. The juvenile will be arraigned in Blytheville District Court Tuesday on second degree murder charges.
Blytheville police began a death investigation, after a local man suffered fatal injuries when he was stabbed Sunday night at Cedar Grove Trailer Park, 901 South Division.
Adams said around 7:40 p.m. Sunday police found the victim, Holliman, lying on the ground with another individual attempting to render aid.
"Officers observed an injury to the victim's neck with severe bleeding," Adams said earlier Monday. " Medics arrived and transported Holliman to the Great River Medical Center where he later died. Officers obtained statements from several people on scene. We are currently investigating (the incident) as a death investigation. Detectives have a person of interest and are currently looking for the individual for questioning."
Holliman's body will be sent to the Arkansas Medical Examiner's Office for official cause of death.
