Winter weather limited Buffalo Island Central's boys to just one game, but the Mustangs took full advantage, defeating Cross County 66-53 Tuesday night at Cherry Valley.
BIC, who evened their record at 7-7 on the season, led 20-11 after the first break, 33-23 at the half and 48-32 after three quarters of play.
Andrew McFarlin paced the Mustangs with 18 points. Trey DePriest also hit double digits, scoring 11, while Chayse Carmichael and Canon Walling pitched in nine points apiece. Hunter Like led the Thunderbirds with 16 points.
In junior high action, BIC defeated Cross County 43-33. Jesse Fry scored a game high 20 points to pace the Mustangs.
BIC will return to action Tuesday night when they face off against Bay in a key conference matchup at the Mustang Athletic Complex. The Mustangs will close the week with a Friday night matchup at Armorel.
Lady Mustangs
In girls action, BIC improved to 10-7 overall and 6-1 in conference play with a pair of victories last week.
BIC defeated Rector 48-33 Monday night on the road and followed with a 47-35 win Tuesday at Cross County.
Heather Sipes scored 18 points and grabbed eight boards in BIC's victory at Rector. Matison Dean led the Lady Cougars with 13.
In the junior high game, Rector downed BIC 30-20. Vicky Esparza led the Lady Mustangs with 10 points.
Sipes produced a double-double in BIC's win over Cross County, scoring 22 points while pulling down 12 rebounds. Molly Hart added 11 points, seven boards and five assists. Kalianna Hill topped the Lady Thunderbirds with 14 points.
In junior high play, Vicky Esparza scored 11 points to power BIC to a 32-20 win over Cross County.
The Lady Mustangs will play host to Bay Tuesday night before traveling to Marmaduke Thursday night in a conference showdown with the Lady Greyhounds.
