In response to several accidents in the area, the city of Blytheville has converted the intersection of Laclede and Walnut into a four-way stop.
"We have been having a number of motor vehicle accidents at Walnut and Laclede," Blytheville assistant police chief Ricky Jefferson said. "After careful consideration we have decided to make the intersection a four-way stop to try to prevent some of these collisions."
The signs were installed on Wednesday.
"We will be monitoring the location, but not issuing any citations, unless so warranted, as to allow the citizens to get accustomed to the location being a four-way stop," Jefferson said.
