The Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new Lovelace Plaza with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday. "Most of you here probably know Larry Lovelace," Farmers Bank and Trust president Randy Scott said during the ceremony. "I negotiated with him for several months until I talked him into selling us this property. He came to this location every day for 40 years and it was a very sentimental place to him. And most of you also know that Larry had a heart transplant a few years back. This property is a lot like Larry. It is a great piece of property at a good location; however, it just needed a little heart transplant. We have spruced it up a bit, brought in Wagner Medical Clinic and Rose Pharmacy along with Farmers Bank and given this corner a heart transplant. Now, we hope get a good 40 years out of this location as well. So, we only thought it was fitting that we name this plaza Lovelace Plaza in his honor." Several local leaders were in attendance, including Blytheville Mayor James Sanders.
