The Armorel School Board met for its regular meeting on Monday evening. Will Furgeson with SunChase Power made a presentation for the possible leasing of some of the school-owned farmland for a potential solar energy project.
Principal Joey Carr updated the board on elementary events to include the Scholastic Book Fair which will run October 7 --14 and will include Donuts with Dads on October 11. The high school plans to distribute MacBooks to students beginning October 19. Updates were provided regarding a variety of different projects. The track and fencing project is complete with the parking lot area yet to be completed. The gym lobby renovation project is well underway with structural plans nearing completion. The district will be introducing a new website within the next week -- armoreltigers.org.
Student enrollment is up 46 students from this time last year. The elementary has 229 students, and the high school has 204 students. The district has a total of 443 students in K-12. In action items, the board approved the ACSIP Statement of Assurances, the 2016-2017 budget, the Legislative Audit Review, and the Minority Teacher and Administrator Recruitment Plan.
