The filing period for municipal elections on the November general ballot officially ended Friday at noon, and some shifting will be in the cards for the Blytheville City Council. The Council seats currently held by Kevin Snow, Tommy Abbott, and R.L. Jones are all up for re-election this year...

The filing period for municipal elections on the November general ballot officially ended Friday at noon, and some shifting will be in the cards for the Blytheville City Council.

The Council seats currently held by Kevin Snow, Tommy Abbott, and R.L. Jones are all up for re-election this year.

According to records from the Mississippi County clerk's office, two of these races will be opposed but one incumbent is stepping down.

In the race for Abbott's seat, Ward One, Position One, Abbott will be opposed by John D. Mayberry.

In the race for Ward Two, Position One, Snow is not listed as a candidate, but three newcomers are: Neal McGough, Nina Watson, and Barbara McAdoo Brothers.

Jones will run unopposed in Ward Three, Position Two.
