Hershel Douglas

Hershel Levelle Douglas, age 79, of Manila, passed from this life Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the Manila Nursing Center. Born at Manila he was the son of the late Roy and Myrtle Brown Douglas, had been a lifelong Manila resident and was a commercial fisherman.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Coleen Douglas in 2001, his sister, Sybil Virginia "V" Winstead, 1 niece Nadine Winstead.

Mr. Douglas is survived by;

Two Step sons: Leslie Sammons of Manila and Fred Sammons of Dardanelle

One Step daughter, Irene Canterbury of Newark, OH

He also leaves several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral Services will be 2 pm Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Mike Colvin officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be James Winstead, Floyd Winstead, Donald Sammons, Doug Rose, Todd Huckabee, Jason Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Sammons, Kody Winstead, Nicholas Winstead and Tristen Winstead. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
