Olean Hicks
Olean Hicks, 85, longtime Manila resident and widow of Paul E. Hicks, passed from this life Thursda,y June 30, 2016, at her home. Born in Leachville she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie Trusty Johnson and was raised in the Pawheen community. A Manila resident for over 60 years, she worked on the family farm with her husband and sons. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she served over 40 years in the junior department and later as church librarian. Faith and family were her life. She also loved cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Lyerly and Dorothy Brooks.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Wayne and Sandra Hicks and Jimmy and Diane Hicks, all of Manila; four grandchildren, Angie Master (Aaron), Paul "Bubba" Hicks (Elizabeth), Holly Adams (Eddie Wayne), and Jairus Hicks; six great-grandchildren, Danielle Hicks, DruAnn Hicks, Trey Hicks, Katelyn Adams, Allie Adams and Aidan Master; 3 sisters, Pat Simon of Arnold, Mo., Willadean Ott, of Arnold, Mo., and Mary Wright of Manila.
Funeral service were 2 p.m. Sunday July 3, at the First Baptist Church in Manila with Rev. Matt Pryor and Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial followed in the Manila Cemetery. The family will received visitors Saturday evening from 6-8 at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila.
Pallbearers included Paul Wayne Hicks Jr., Trey Hicks, Aaron Master, Aidan Master, Eddie Wayne Adams and Michael Edwards.
