Escaped Mississippi County inmate Wendell Shields is back in custody, according to Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook. Cook told the CN Saturday evening that Shields was found in Blytheville and was in transit back to the jail. Shields was arraigned Tuesday after allegedly burglarizing Shoe Carnival in April, robbing Hays Grocer later that month and burglarizing Hays on Monday. Escaped Mississippi County inmate Wendell Shields is back in custody, according to Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook.

Cook told the CN Saturday evening that Shields was found in Blytheville and was in transit back to the jail.

Police received an anonymous tip around 6:45 p.m. and deputies met Blytheville police at the scene, 1006 North Franklin, around 7:15 p.m. to take Shields into custody. He is expected to be transported to the Arkansas Department of Corrections in Malvern and now faces charges in the escape.
