Monte Carl Grimes
Monte Carl Grimes, "GaGa", a resident of Alvarado, Texas, passed away on April 11, 2016. He was born in Leachville to Monte Floyd and Barbara Frances Grimes, who preceded him in death. Monte retired from the DPS Highway Patrol after 25 years of faithful service. After retirement, he worked for the U.S. Marshall's Office at the Federal Courthouse in Dallas. He received the Special Ranger award from the Texas Rangers Service. Monte was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alvarado where he especially enjoyed his passion, singing in the choir. He had the gift of making everyone laugh, and was well known for pulling pranks. He was as avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and camping. Monte's greatest love was being a grandfather, dad and husband.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 33 years, LouAnn; daughter, Sarah Renae Taylor and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Henley Faith Taylor and Barrett Carl Taylor; sister, Monta Lea Grimes; numerous extended family members and all of his brothers in law enforcement.
Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, at the First Baptist Church of Alvarado. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests honoring his his memory by making a donation to the Building Fund at the First Baptist Church of Alvarado.
