Buffalo Island Central shut out Senath-Hornersville 6-0 Friday afternoon on the road. The Mustangs scored a single run in the fourth and tacked on four more in the fifth before adding another run in the sixth to gain the victory.

Brandon Towery went the distance to pick up the win. Towery hurled a three hit shutout, striking out six batters on the day. Towery helped his own cause, belting three hits while driving in a pair of runs. Bryce Towery also had a pair of RBI for the Mustangs.

BIC (5-2) began the week with a 15-5 rout of Cross County Tuesday at Monette.

The Mustangs will travel to Rector Monday and will host EPC Thursday before ending the week with a nonconference game Friday at Westside.

The Lady Mustangs gained their first two wins of the season with a doubleheader sweep Tuesday afternoon over Cross County. BIC took the opener 4-0 before coming back to win the nightcap 7-3.

Lexi Ray was the winning pitcher in both games, tossing a no-hitter while striking out seven in the opener. Ray scattered five hits and struck out four in the nightcap.

Ray went 2-3 with an RBI in game one while Jealynn Cates also had a pair of hits in the opener. In the second game, Molly Hart singled, doubled and had three RBI. Ray belted three hits while Holly Stockton also singled twice.

BIC closed the week, dropping a 12-2 decision Friday afternoon at Cedar Ridge.

The Lady Mustangs return to the diamond Thursday, playing host to East Poinsett County at Monette. BIC will travel to Armorel Friday for a nonconference date.
