A lease at Skateland limits events to roller skating only, according to the building's owner, Don Hall.

Hall told the Courier News late Saturday night that he didn't find out about Saturday's controversial concert at the building until that day.

He said he told the man leasing the building, Emmanuel Watson, that the facility is for skating only, and asked that he cancel the concert.

However, according to Hall, Watson said it was too late to cancel it.

Watson rented Skateland to Javander Williams and Deon Mouton for $400.

Hall ran Skateland for 10 years and has owned the facility for 15. He currently operates a skating rink in Hot Springs, where he and his wife reside.

Hall noted Watson has leased Skateland for two years and there had been no issues until Saturday.

"If Emmanual will cooperate, we can get this going in the right direction," Hall said, noting he plans to have a long talk with Watson.

He added Skateland is a place for kids to have a good time.

Earlier Saturday, Watson told the CN that he only books the parties and has nothing to do with the event. Watson said he told the group renting the facility for the concert that alcohol and smoking is not allowed. He said the group has booked events with him previously and there were no issues.

Controversial rapper "MoneyBagg Yo" was to perform at Skateland on Saturday night. Earlier this month during a CD music release concert held by the rapper, 28 were arrested on gun and alcohol charges, according to news reports.
