The following are reports from the Blytheville Police Department.
Friday, March 18
-- Around 8:50 a.m. the Blytheville Police Department (BPD) took a report of first-degree criminal mischief in excess of $1,000 in the 1300 block of East Rose. The victim said that she had arrived at her home around 8 p.m. the evening before and that her white 2003 Dodge Neon had been keyed and had been dented.
-- Police were called to the Wal-Mart parking lot in reference to the discovery of a 2016 white Toyota Yaris that had been reported stolen from Jonesboro. Once the vehicle was confirmed stolen it was impounded by BPD and the Jonesboro Police Department was notified.
-- BPD was called to the 800 block of Mayfair where a report was taken of a juvenile runaway.
-- Officers responded around 1:15 p.m. Friday to reports of a residential burglary in the 700 block of East Walnut Friday. The victim told police that he left for work at approximately 9:30 a.m. and when he returned he found his front door had been kicked open. Items taken include a .40-caliber Glock, a MacBook, cash, an Xbox 1, Xbox 1 games, and a Samsung phone.
-- Around 1:15 p.m. BPD took a report of second-degree criminal mischief in the 900 block of North 10th. The victim reported that he found the bedroom window had been broken and the rear door of the apartment had a hole put in it.
-- Police responded to the 3700 block of East Main in reference to a child custody dispute. The victim stated that his ex-wife refused to allow him to see his child. The victim lives in Louisiana and the offender lives in Illinois, and the two of them have a documented meeting place at the Blytheville Wal-Mart parking lot to exchange custody. The victim provided BPD with supporting documentation of joint custody and exchange scheduling.
-- Officer responded to the 1700 block of West Main upon receiving a report of the house being shot at. The victim said that he had returned home from Memphis around 6:30 p.m. and that his stepdaughter and a male "were starting drama" when he returned home. The victim told police that the male warned him that someone would shoot the house up because the victim's son had hadn't paid $250 for two guns. After the victim told the male that he wasn't going to pay, he went to find his guns and determined that one of his handguns was missing. The victim said his fiancée received a text saying to leave the house and call her. The victim said that approximately 10-minutes later the house got shot up. One round traveled through the living room window. Another round traveled through the bedroom window. The last round entered above the carport. No injuries were reported. Unrelated to that event, with the police there, the victim also reported his Xbox 1, three controllers and some games stolen. He said that they were taken in December and that he had tried to resolve the issue himself with the person that allegedly took them.
Saturday, March 19
-- At approximately 2:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of West Rose in reference to a stolen handgun. The victim stated that while she was at work, her nephew allegedly came to her residence and took the old firearm. The victim stated that the firearm was found in the home when she bought the house and that it belonged to the previous owner of the home. The handgun is described as a black revolver with wood grips and either a .32 caliber or a .38 caliber pistol.
-- Officer took at report of a residential burglary in the 800 block of South Ruddle. The victim stated that when she returned home she found her front door was unlocked and the back bedroom window was raised. The victim also said that only thing she could tell had been taken was an APEX DVD player from her living room.
-- At 7:53 a.m. Saturday morning, BPD took a criminal mischief report in the 1100 block of Normandy Lane. The victim said that when he came out of his home to start his card he noticed body and window damage to his vehicle. The report says that the red Ford Mustang's driver's side window was shattered and the driver's side door, front fender and windshield had marks. Several pieces of red brick were laying around the vehicle and in the yard.
-- BPD responded to a call of second-degree criminal mischief in the 800 block of South Ruddle when the victim found all four of her car's tires had been cut.
-- Officers responded around 4:58 p.m. Saturday to the 600 block of West Pecan when a neighbor called reporting Johnny Higgins allegedly kicking open a door and a woman screaming for help. The neighbor called in response to the victim's pleas. When police arrived, the victim was on the floor on her knees holding a kitchen knife. Higgins said that he was just checking on her and calming her down. The report states that the victim said that Higgins arrived and began beating on the door. She yelled and told him to leave but he refused. Higgins then allegedly kicked in the door and gained entry to the residence. The victim said that he began yelling at her and that she had the knife in her hands for her protection because Higgins said he was going to kill them both. The victim said that her black eye was due to Higgins striking her the day before. Higgins said that he kicked in the door because she didn't answer and he was scared something was wrong with her. Higgins was taken into custody and charged with third degree battery.
-- BPD took a report of harassment/communications in the 5300 block of Westminster. The victim reported receiving multiple calls that began around 7 p.m. the night before. The victim said that she could barely understand the woman's voice and that despite having an 870 area code phone number, the offender said it was a Canadian phone number. When the victim received a call around 3 p.m. and the offender asked about the victim's grandchildren, they called the police.
-- Officer responded to reports of an assault in the 1700 block of East Main. The victim said that her boyfriend's daughter, Cassaundra Palmore, come to her home and confronted her about a shooting. The argument got heated and Palmore allegedly attacked the victim by striking her in the face and knocking her to the ground. While on the ground the victim alleges that Palmore kicked her in the face, causing injury. Palmore was taken into custody and charged with third degree battery.
Sunday, March 20
-- BPD took a report of residential burglary in the 800 block of West Walnut. The victim stated that the offender gained entrance though the door on the east side of the home by breaking the handle on the screen door and breaking the interior door of the hinges. The victim stated that the house had been ransacked but did not find anything missing. The victim is in process of taking an inventory. The offender also gained entrance into a shed by kicking a hole in the metal and unlocking the door from the inside. The victim stated that a lawnmower was missing
-- Police were called to the McDonald's at 1031 East Main in reference to a female with a crowbar. The victim stated that he had received a call from his girlfriend and she said she was coming to his work. He told her not to come up there and not to call. Later he saw her and her cousin allegedly get out of a car. The offender then allegedly swung the crowbar at him, striking him on his left shoulder. She followed him into the restaurant and behind the registers, yelling and still holding the crowbar. BPD examined video footage of the event. The report states that the girlfriend thought the victim was going to harm her so she took the crowbar for her own protection.
-- Officer took a report of shoplifting at Kroger's located at 400 West Moultrie. The victim said that two chuck roasts were taken. When an employee attempted to make contact with the offender, after the door alarms sounded, the offender allegedly placed the two items under a car. When confronted, she allegedly attempted to reenter Kroger, but the doors didn't work so she took off on foot running east on Moultrie.
-- BPD responded to the 500 block of Stemac in response to an alleged domestic assault. When the officer arrived the victim told police that the offender had fled. The report stats that the two had a verbal argument over him cheating on her. He then forced the victim to leave the residence. While continuing to argue outside, the victim "heard a pop, like a gun pop". The victim said she never saw a firearm but believed he obtained one while leaving the house. No shell casings were located on the scene and the victim had no injuries.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Cedar Lane in reference to a domestic dispute. The victim told police that his wife "was drunk and acting crazy." He and Jennifer Huffman were separated, but he wanted to try to work things out, so she came over from her home in Bartlett, Tennessee. The victim then said that they began to argue so he told her to leave. The victim added that while Huffman was in the garage, she kicked and broke the glass storm door. When police questioned Huffman, she said she was drunk and that her husband refused to let her back in the house so she broke the glass door. When police asked if she lived at the address she said no, but that her lease was up tomorrow and that "he said I could move here." When asked for identification Huffman went to her vehicle to retrieve her drivers license. She returned and threw it at the officer, striking him in the forehead. When the officer attempted to place handcuffs on her, she allegedly resisted arrest and refuse to submit. Continuing her resistance when forced to the patrol car, the officer deployed his Taser, using a ½ second dive stun so that he could bend her leg and secure her in the vehicle. Huffman allegedly kicked the officer in his face and again kicking his shoulder, which required a second deployment of the Taser. She was transported to the Mississippi County Jail and charged with third degree assault. The narrative said that other charges such as public intoxication disorderly conduct and resisting arrest are expected as well.
