Capt. Scott Adams of the Blytheville Police Department released the following statement about an apparent homicide Friday night on South Franklin:
"On 3/18/16 at approximately 11 p.m., officers of the Blytheville Police Dept responded to 507 South Franklin for a call of an unresponsive female. When officers arrived they made contact with a black male later identified as 52 year old Jamal Akram, who led officers to the deceased female, identified as 57 year old Linda Hatcher. Hatcher had obvious signs of a domestic assault. Akram was taken into custody and will be arraigned on Monday. Hatcher's body will be sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiners office for official cause of death."
Adams said, "There are services and help for familys in bad domestic relationships and if anyone needs those services they should contact the police department or any officer, who will help provide and facilitate those services."
Jamal Akram was convicted of manslaughter in 2005.
