It has been a wet wonderful week for the Humane Society. Even with flooded roads, we adopted four dogs and one cat.
This week, instead of sharing pet updates or pet care tips, we want to share our blessings with you.
The organization is blessed to have a dedicated group of volunteers. One awesome group of volunteers, led by Clara Taylor, runs Orphan Annie's Thrift Store. Did you know Orphan Annie's Thrift Store has two locations? The first location is at 309 North 2nd street. The second location, which carries large household items and the overflow from North 2nd St., is located at 601 North 10th street.
Over the past couple of weeks, Orphan Annie's, has been blessed with much needed updates to the North 10th St. location. The Blytheville Leadership Institute participants, helped install new lighting and a new furnace at the North 10th St. location. We want to thank Lewis Walters and Ted Smith for their help in the project. The staff had been working in the building every week without heat in one section and with poor lighting in another area.
We also celebrated our first Bow Wow Meow Gala. It was a great success. Susie Langston and Midge Ellison put together an awesome night of fun and entertainment. We would like to say a special thank you to those who helped make the event a success: Tammy Swanson, Mary Ann Garin, Dr. Keith Hemsberger, Jason Penn and Dennis Gurley.
Some people say our little community does not have much to offer, but if you stop a moment and think about our community, we are blessed beyond belief with good people who have generous hearts and a calling to help those who need help.
Thank you, Blytheville and Mississippi County, for supporting the Blytheville Humane Society.
