The following are reports from the Blytheville Police Department.
-- Police investigated a domestic battery report in the 2200 block of South Circle. A verbal altercation became physical when the victim's boyfriend grabbed her by the throat and struck her in the left side of the face, the report said.
-- Officers took a harassment report involving two Blytheville Elementary School students. The offender reportedly sent several threatening messages to the victim via the school's computers, as well as photos of a hand holding up the middle finger, pictures of a revolver and photos of a knife. The report said the school is handling disciplinary action, and the girl's mother was told that she would have to pursue legal action.
-- Police investigated a burglary in the 1600 block of Willow. A gun was reported missing.
-- Police took a report of a missing air compressor in the 2200 block of Carolyn.
-- Officers arrested Byron Smith, following a traffic stop at Moultrie and Second. Smith faces charges of assault on a correctional officer, possession of a controlled substance (an ounce of marijuana), possession of instrument of a crime (an electronic scale) and resisting arrest. While police were preparing to search him, Smith reportedly said he had nothing illegal and "that the smell was because he 'smoked a joint an hour ago.'" Police noticed a "bulge in the subject's pants near the groin area." The report said Smith reached into his pants and shoved the object deeper in his pants. The officer attempted to handcuff Smith, who forced his way out of custody, leading to the sheriff's deputy sustaining a minor laceration on his eyebrow, the report said. "Myself and the deputy tackled Smith a few yards away from the vehicle as he attempted to flee," the report said. "We attempted to place restraints on Smith multiple times without escalating force and giving several verbal commands, but Smith would not comply and continued to pull away from officers. Deputies then used a taser to drive stun Smith...I threw multiple closed fist strikes to Smith's stomach and diaphragm causing him to roll over onto his stomach. At this time, officers were able to gain complete control and place wrist restraints on Smith." Police reportedly found the ounce of marijuana on his person and an electronic scale in the vehicle.
-- Police investigated a burglary in the 300 block of North Hollywood. A television was reported missing.
-- Officers took a report of an individual discharging a firearm in the 900 block of Moultrie. The report said a large group of people were fighting in the street and the offender fired four shots in the air as she drove away from the scene, the report said.
-- Police investigated a burglary in the 100 block of Coleridge. Two televisions were reported missing.
-- Officers investigated a sexual assault report in the 1300 block of West Walnut. The boyfriend of the juvenile victim's mother allegedly touched her buttocks while the girl was sleeping. The incident woke up the victim, and the offender covered her up and left the room, according to the report. The offender peeked briefly into the room twice after the incident, according to the report. A few months ago, the offender "kept staring at her," the report said. They have lived in the same household for five years. The boyfriend questioned police why he is accused of touching the girl, and officers advised him to leave the house and not make contact with the family until the investigation concludes. The man agreed. Police contacted the child abuse hotline.
-- Police arrested a juvenile on terroristic threatening charges in the 1000 block of Rollison. The victim's granddaughter apparently would not listen to her and says "you are old, I can beat you up any time I want." The girl hides knives in her room, and walks around the house throughout the night, the report said. The grandmother fears for her life and wants her out of the house. Police turned the case over to the State Police Child Welfare office.
-- Officers took a theft report (computer tablet) in the 2100 block of Hearn.
-- Police investigated a criminal mischief report (key marks on vehicle) in the 100 block of South Second.
-- Police took a theft report (cell phone) in the 1100 block of South Lilly.
-- Officers took a criminal mischief report in the 600 block of Southeast Parkway. The victim reported dents on the passenger side of the vehicle. The victim is evicting the reported offender.
-- Police took a breaking and entering report to a vehicle parked in the 300 block of North 6th. The radio was reported missing.
-- Police investigated a domestic battery report in the 1200 block of Thompson. The victim said her child's father accused her of having someone else around their child, and she hung up the phone because they are not supposed to have contact with each other. "There is a court date next month in which she and her father were victims and (the father of her child) was the offender," the report said. "She advised in that incident (the offender) physically assaulted her and stabbed her father." The report noted a few minutes after she hung up on the offender and was getting ready to go to her sister's house, the offender pulled up. "As he got close to her, she said that she put her hand up on his chest telling him to stop and to leave her property," the report said. " (The victim) said that he hit her in the face with a closed fist and continued to hit her until she fell to the ground. He then continued striking her with a closed fist and also kicked her several times." The victim sustained a laceration under her eye, bump on her forehead, broken nails and a scrape on her ankle.
-- Police investigated an assault in the 100 block of East McHaney.
-- Officers investigated a breaking and entering report in the 100 block of East Main.
-- Police took a terroristic threatening report in the 200 block of West Walnut.
-- Following a traffic stop on Division, police arrested David Polk on charges of possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia (crack pipe) and failure to appear.
-- Police investigated a burglary in the 1200 block of Thompson.
-- Officers investigated a burglary in the 700 block of East Main. Reported missing were a television, gun and Apple TV box.
-- Police took a report of a stolen backpack in the 900 block of North 6th.
-- Officers took a harassment report in the 1300 block of East Main.
