Charlie McKinney
Mrs. Charlie Ann McKinney, 75, of Burdette, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.
She was born in Scooba, Miss., the daughter of Charlie Pams and Mary Adams Pams. She moved to Luxora as a teenager and later to Burdette.
She was a member of New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and served with the Women's Missionary Society and Mother's Board and wherever she was needed. She had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She had been an employee of Bush Canning Company, the Burdette School Cafeteria and had been a caregiver/sitter for many elderly and sick persons throughout the community. Her reputation as an outstanding cook was legend and many of her recipes appeared in some of the published local cookbooks. She was a kind-hearted person with a pleasant smile.
Mrs. McKinney leaves her husband, William A. McKinney, Sr.;
Two daughters, Mrs. Lois McKinney Wilkins of Burdette and Ms. Cynthia McKinney of Atlanta;
Three sons, William A. McKinney and Wendell McKinney, both of Chassopolis, Mich. and Charlie (Deborah) McKinney of San Antonio, Texas;
Twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 600 E. McHaney Drive, with Reverend Odale Jones, Pastor. Dr. Moses Black will deliver the eulogy and Rev. L. Nash will assist. Burial will follow at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Burdette. The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 5 at the McDonald-Horne Funeral Home, 1207 S. Division in Blytheville.
