MAYNARD-The Armorel Tigers opened the 1A-3 East season where they left off last season-a shutout victory.
The Tigers traveled to Maynard Thursday night and left with a 9-0 win over the host Tigers.
Armorel (1-0, 1-0 1A-3 East) scored two runs in the first, one in each of the third and fourth innings, a pair in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Starting pitcher, Nash Winters, allowed just two hits and fanned nine in five and two thirds innings pitched.
Winters and Nieko Sorrentino both had a pair of hits and Logan Blankenship and Connor Walls each picked up RBIs to lead the Tiger offense.
The Tigers return home Friday to take on the 5A Paragould Rams in non-conference action. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Billy Brown/Hugh Don Ashmore Field.
