SEARCY -- The Gosnell Pirates lost a heartbreaker to Helena Central, 80-79, Friday night in the semifinals of the 4A East Region Tournament at Riverview.
The Pirates jumped out to a 24-14 lead in the first quarter, but Helena rallied to trim the lead to 43-41 by halftime.
The game stayed tight the entire second half.
Helena led 59-58 going into the final period.
Tremaine Anderson led Gosnell with 20 points, Carlos Blackman added 18 and Brandon Partee 15. Marcus McClain chipped in nine in the loss.
Helena's Tikal Smith led all scorers with 23.
Gosnell will square off with Westside at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the third place game.
