SEARCY-The Gosnell Pirates qualified for the 4A state tournament after a 77-60 win over eStem High School Wednesday night in the first round of the 4A East Region at Riverview High School.
Carlos Blackman got the top seeded Pirates going by hitting four three pointers in the first period as Gosnell jumped out to a 19-11 lead after one. Blackman hit seven threes in total on his way to a 23 point night with the final batch coming in the fourth period. In between, Tramaine Anderson scored 14 of his 19 points in the second and third periods as the Pirates built a double digit advantage. Marquell McKinney poured in 20 points with a 14 point second half.
Gosnell led 19-11 after one period, 39-27 by halftime and 57-41 heading into the fourth.
Along with Blackman, McKinney and Anderson, Brandon Partee scored 10 points, Marcus McClain scored three points and D.J. Jones added a basket.
Rashawn Lagnston led all scorers with 36 points for eStem.
The Pirates will play the winner of Thursday's Central vs. Cave City game at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
