Buffalo Island Central wrapped up third place in the tough 2A-3 conference race with a 68-42 victory over Rector Friday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.
Travon Cobb celebrated senior night by pumping in a game high 22 points to lead the Mustangs, who improved to 17-9 overall and 11-5 in league play. Trey DePriest scored 17 points while Dax Hurst pitched in 12 more. Lawson Ford and Garrett Buck led the Cougars with 14 and 10 points respectively.
BIC held leads of 15-10 after the first break, 40-19 at the half and 60-35 after three periods of play.
The Mustangs also took the junior high contest 41-26.
BIC will play host to Harding Academy Tuesday night before closing out the regular season by entertaining Manila Friday night at the MAC. The junior Mustangs will open district tournament play Monday afternoon against Riverside. Tipoff is set for 5:15 p.m. at East Poinsett County High School in Lepanto.
In girls action, BIC downed Rector 40-32. Blaire Wildy posted a double-double, pouring in 16 points while snaring 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Mustangs. Heather Sipes chipped in 15 points.
Rector slipped past BIC in the junior girls game 26-24.
The Lady Mustangs close out the regular season Thursday night with a home game against Manila. The junior Lady Mustangs open district tournament play Tuesday at EPC.
