Manila School Board members reviewed building update by John Mixon, architect, and Adam Seider, project manager, at the Jan. 25 meeting. A more detailed design of the front of the new high school building was presented. The final review before bids should be ready in the near future.
The board approved Superintendent Pam Castor to locate a temporary placement for the bus shed and contract it for the district's use while construction of the new high school is underway. The present bus shed site will have to be relocated.
The board reviewed three calendar proposals for the 2016-2017 school year. The proposals will be sent to the Personnel Policy Committee (PPC) for teacher/staff input and come back to the board for a final decision.
The board unanimously approved extending Superintendent Castor's contract through the 2017-2018 school year. They also added a two percent increase to her salary.
The School Board members were recognized by the PPC for their work and dedication in making the school a better place.
The next regularly scheduled school board meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18.
