GREENE CO.-A week after pulling out a one point victory over the Nettleton Raiders at the free throw line, the Blytheville Chickasaws fell victim to a last second free throw as rival, Greene County Tech, pulled out a 54-53 victory Tuesday night.
Last week's hero, Issac Kelly, missed a jump shot with five seconds remaining and the score tied, 53-53. Blytheville was called for a loose ball foul off of the miss sending Clayton Beasley to the line for two shots with 0.9 seconds on the clock. Beasley missed the first free throw but made the second. A desperation shot was missed by the Chickasaws as the Eagles (4-10, 2-3 5A-East) escaped with a win.
Blytheville's Patrick Beasley scored 11 first period points on three three pointers as the Chicks took a 16-15 lead. The two teams were tied, 27-27, heading into halftime before Blytheville took a 43-39 lead heading into the fourth period.
For the game, Beasley led the Chicks with 17 points and John Allen Guyton added nine points.
Preston Hart led Tech with 15 points and Logan Sapp chipped in 13 points.
The loss drops the Chicks into seventh place in the 5A-East at 1-4. They'll return home Friday night to take on first place, Forrest City, who comes in with a 13-2 record overall and 6-0 in the 5A-East.
