ARMOREL-The defending 1A state champions, Bay Yellowjackets, showed why they will contend for a second straight championship this season with a 65-41 win over the Armorel Tigers Tuesday night.
Bay jumped out to a 20-8 lead after one period, 39-17 at halftime and led 58-30 heading into the fourth period.
Nash Winters led the way for Armorel with 11 points and Matt Wyatt added nine points.
Tyler Pritchett led all scorers with 18 points for Bay (21-4, 4-0 1A-3 East), Dustin Utley added 17 points and Taylor Layne scored 11 points.
Armorel drops to 11-8 on the season and 2-2 in the 1A-3 East conference.
The Tigers next game is Tuesday, January 19th at Crowley's Ridge.

Bay 74, Armorel 24
Ahead by 11 points after the first period, the Bay Lady Yellowjackets outscored the Armorel Lady Tigers, 31-5, in the second period on their way to a 74-24 win Tuesday night. Bay (25-3, 4-0 1A-3 East) made 11 of 17 three point attempts in the first half to build their advantage.
Bay led 25-14 at the end of the first period, 56-19 at halftime and 63-21 heading into the fourth.
Ayrielle Appleton and Rachel McKuin each scored 11 points a piece to lead Armorel.
Armorel drops to 5-13 on the season and 1-3 in the 1A-3 East.
The Lady Tigers travel to Monette Thursday night for a non conference matchup against Buffalo Island Central.
