LAKE CITY-The Gosnell Pirates advanced to the championship round of the Gerald Jennings tournament thanks to a 57-40 win over the Manila Lions Thursday night at Riverside High School.

The Lions got 23 points from sophomore Bradley Woodall but it wasn't enough against the balanced Pirate attack.

Gosnell led 17-13 after one period. The Pirates outscored the Lions, 15-4, in the second period to take a 32-17 lead into the locker room at halftime. Gosnell led 40-30 heading into the fourth and cruised to the victory.

Carlos Blackman led the Pirates (6-1) with 14 points, Brandon Partee added 12 points and Tramaine Anderson chipped in 11 points.

The Pirates will play the Marked Tree Indians at 7:30 p.m. Saturday for the tournament championship. The 2A Indians knocked off the 5A Valley View Blazer, 73-68, Thursday night.

The junior Pirates will play the junior Manila Lions at 6 p.m. in the junior high championship.
