I want to take this opportunity to thank the citizens of Blytheville for getting out and voting during this last special election. I also want to thank the City Council for allowing the measure to be brought before the people for a vote. I recognize that some hard lines were taken when it came to the support or non-support of the proposed tax, but I want to assure the people of Blytheville that we are all wanting the same thing...for Blytheville to prosper.

I want to thank my employees for all of the hard work they do to assure that Blytheville provides the best possible services to its citizens. When I took office I promised that I would tireless work to move Blytheville to that place of prosperity that it is destined to be. The proposed sales tax increase was just one way for us to get there. The failing of that measure does not deter my motivation or desire to continue steering our town to a better tomorrow. It only makes me more fervently look for avenues to take.

Over the course of the next few weeks you will be hearing about some hard decisions that must be made, to assure we continue moving forward. I want to reassure you that we will make those hard decisions and do whatever necessary to assure Blytheville keeps progressing. Look around you and take notice at all of the new businesses and developments that have invested in us recently, and there are more on the horizon that you will see soon.

We are not a second rate city or someplace that has been forgotten about or ignored. Outsiders are taking notice and are investing in our community. We MUST do the same. We MUST all work together for the betterment of Blytheville. As you know, a divided house cannot stand. Having differing opinions on how to get Blytheville to a place of prosperity is needed and welcomed, but no matter our opinions on how to get there, we must all strive for the same thing.

I welcome and encourage anyone who as ideas or concerns to speak up. It is going to take us all being willing to pitch in and help. Together, we will make Blytheville the prosperous and beautiful hometown that we all strive to live in. May God continue to bless Blytheville and may God bless the United States of America.
