Twenty-one of the best high school golfers in the state of Arkansas gathered at the Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock last Thursday for the Overall State Golf Tournament.
Buffalo Island Central's Trey DePriest fired a six over par 78 to finish fifth in the elite field.
Wil Gibson of Jonesboro carded a three under par 69 to claim medalist honors. Luke Long of Fayetteville and Jacob Winkel of Rogers Heritage shot rounds of 76 to tie for second while Caleb Kubacak of Maumelle posted a 77 to finish fourth. Rector's Kade Scott finished with a 79.
"Trey really played well, " said BIC Golf Coach Carey Cossey. "He finished just two shots out of second, and was competing against the best players in the entire state from all classifications. I couldn't have been more proud of him. He had a great day."
