Police are awaiting an autopsy of a three-month old who died Friday.

Though considered a death investigation, Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson said there were no signs to indicate it was a homicide, and he said police aren't conducting interviews at this time, as they wait for the autopsy.

Around 7:45 a.m. Friday, police responded to the 1600 block of Hearn, where they found the infant unresponsive, not breathing but warm to the touch, the police report said.

Pafford EMS transported the child to Great River Medical Center, performing CPR and other life-saving procedures, the report said.

The report said the infant was in bed with the mother and was last awake around 3 a.m..

"It should be noted that the mother was visibly distraught while on the scene," the report said.

The child was pronounced dead at GRMC, and police contacted the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline.
