Anfernee Xavier Wells, 25, is in police custody, according to Capt. Scott Adams, Blytheville Criminal Investigations Division Commander.

Adams said Wells was apprehended by U.S. Marshals, Tuesday, in Detroit, Mich., and he is currently in the Wayne County Jail, awaiting extradition.

Wells is wanted in connection with the June 22 murder of 23-year-old Vincent Stone, who was shot following a game of basketball at Williams Park.

Last month, the other suspect, Daniel Johnson, was arraigned in Blytheville District Court on charges of Murder 1st and Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons.

Police were called to Williams Park on June 22, responding to a report of multiple gunshots.

Stone had been taken to Great River Medical Center by personal vehicle when officers arrived. He was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where he died of his injuries.

A witness told police that, after losing a game of basketball, Stone left the court and walked to his vehicle.

"He stated that he and the victim were walking in the same direction when two black males -- one wearing all black clothing and the other wearing all blue clothing -- approached the basketball court," the report said. "The witness advised that as they approached the first court the two subjects ran towards them and began firing, striking the victim in the leg. The witness advised that after the firing stopped he ran to the victim's aid."

The witness recognized one of the shooters as Johnson, the report said.

"Both subjects ran south, exiting the rear of the park," the report noted. "The witness also advised that he followed the shooters and observed them enter a residence on Clinton Street. As he followed the suspects, he relayed information to the Blytheville dispatch."
