An accident, involving one Ford Explorer, occurred Saturday afternoon around 3:29 p.m. on State Highway 18 in a sharp 45 degree turn just east of Dell. The driver failed to correctly negotiate the turn and while going off the road overcorrected his turn thereby rolling the vehicle, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police. An accident, involving one Ford Explorer, occurred Saturday afternoon around 3:29 p.m. on State Highway 18 in a sharp 45 degree turn just east of Dell. The driver failed to correctly negotiate the turn and while going off the road overcorrected his turn thereby rolling the vehicle, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police. As a result, temporarily, State Highway 18 was shut down.

Those injured were trapped inside the Explorer and emergency crews had to cut off the top of the vehicle in order to rescue them for medical treatment. Two persons suffered harsh injuries requiring air transport to the Region One Medical Center in Memphis.

The following agencies responded to the accident: Arkansas State Police (ASP), Blytheville Fire Department, Dell Fire Department, Arkansas Highway Patrol, Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, Blytheville Police Department, Pafford EMS, Air Evac Lifeteam #113 of Blytheville and Survival Flight of Kennett.

"It is really amazing that so many people responded as quickly as they did to help out somebody in need," ASP State Trooper Ryan Leuer said.

The names and ages of those injured have not be released at this time.
