A female Blytheville Middle School student was arrested Friday, after allegedly bringing a stun gun to school and chasing other students with it during gym class the previous day.

According to the police report, the gym teacher noticed girls being unusually loud in the locker room.

"When confronted the students said nothing," the police report said. "Later after school the gym teacher was contacted by a parent and informed a student had a stun gun in the locker room and was chasing the girls with it."

BMS administrators questioned the student about the incident, but she refused to talk, the report said.

The student then refused to turn over her bag so it could be searched, according to the report.

"At that point, fearing there may be a weapon inside the bag, I stepped forward and took the bag from the student and turned it over to Mrs. (Louise) Davis to be searched," the reporting officer wrote. "During her search, Mrs. Davis located a pink functioning stun gun from the student's bag."

Police seized the stun gun and the student was later turned over to her guardian.

"After the student was released, I was able to check the criminal code book and found a statute for carrying a stun gun," the report said.

Shortly after being released to her grandmother, the student was taken into custody and charged with carrying a stun gun.

She was also charged with domestic assault, after allegedly trying to stab her mother with a pair of scissors.

"A student had possession of a handheld Tazer at school Friday. The device was acquired by administration without incident. Police were notified," Supt. Richard Atwill said.
