Richard Lusby announced he would seek the Circuit Judge, Division 2, position for the 2nd Judicial District. The District consists of Clay, Crittenden, Craighead, Greene, Mississippi and Poinsett Counties. This vacancy occurred due to the death of Judge Lee Fergus.
"I have had a general law practice in Jonesboro for over 37 years. During that time I have represented a variety of clients with cases covering domestic, juvenile, contract, civil and criminal issues. I feel that my wide range of experiences qualifies me for this important position. If I am fortunate enough to be elected I promise to treat everyone who comes into court with respect and apply the law in a fair and equal manner. I believe the job of Circuit Judge is to interpret law rather than make it."
Lusby is a principal at Womack, Phelps & McNeill. A graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Law he has a BA from Ouachita Baptist University and a Master's from Baylor University. On three occasions Lusby was selected to serve as a Special Justice on the Supreme Court. He is a member of the American, Arkansas and Craighead Bar Associations.
