U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, Chris Thyer, has announced a press conference at 2 p.m. at Arkansas Northeastern College. Thyer will give information about a major law enforcement operation that took place Tuesday in Mississippi County, specifically Blytheville.
He will announce the unsealing of 40 separate federal indictments, charging 70 defendants with drug and gun crimes.
Beginning in the early morning hours Tuesday, more than 550 law enforcement officers executed the arrest warrants in a coordinated tactical operation in and around Blytheville. It culminated two years of federal investigation into gun and drug trafficking in Mississippi County.
Representatives from the FBI, state prosecutor's office, Arkansas State Police, and local law enforcement will also be in attendance and available for questions.
